Round Ports? You got to be kidding me!

Everyone said to get the Percys dead soft pn 66011. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

So i bought them....got the manifolds off today...the ports sure do look square to me, not round like the gaskets

Do i get the 1.5x1.5 square gaskets now Or will the round gaskets work? They look REALLY close to the edge of the head port. IDK what to do now

Also does summit take open packages back? I'm NOT spending ANOTHER $30 on gaskets. I hope these seal.

Queston #2. On the pass. side manifold, how do i get the dipstick mount off? The nut isn't coming off the stud, the whole stud is coming outa the head preventing me from sliding it off the stud. Also does the dipstick just pull out of the block?

I really need your help guys!

Re: Round Ports? You got to be kidding me!

if your gaskets are round, and the ports on your heads are square you do not want to use the round gaskets because the round gaskets will be covering the corners of your square exhaust ports thus restricting exhuast flow. BUT if your round exhust cut outs on the gaskets are bigger than the ports on your heads you should be fine. the big thing is you just do not want to restrict air flow. And as for the dip stick sliding out of the block, yes it should.

The hedmans have round ports so you have to used round gaskets otherwise they won't seal. So it really matters on if your headers/maifolds are square or round. You could prb. use the round gaskets if your headers/manifolds are square but it will restrict some flow.

My dipstick had a bolt that I just took out for the bracket. Then the dip stick just pull out of the block, and I used some rtv sealant when I put it back on.

Well the hooker 2055 headers have a "squarish/round" opening on the flange. They aren't square with sharp corners, there kind of ovalish.

I'll take some pics and post them tonight when i get home again.

Re: Round Ports? You got to be kidding me!

Well my POS camera batteries are dead again. I trimmed the gaskets to the headers, it'll seal pretty good.

This got me PISSED!! I tryed to get the dipstick bracket off. All i acomplished was twisting the F outa the tube, and the stick pushed so hard on the coolant flush T it broke, spilling a quart of antifreeze on my face. I'll work on it more monday when i get my headers blasted and painted.

Does anyone make a stock replacment dipstick tube?!?

Check Classic Industries for the dipstick tube.
If you can make do with what you have, I may have one
laying around. For another 3rd-gen'r I'd be willing to part
with it for shipping costs. PM me if you're interested,
& I'll gen some pics.
