Re: catalytic converter question???

Will cutting off your cat increase horsepower.....yes, slightly.
I am currently running without cat and I will be putting one back on only because the exhaust smells terrible.

BTW before the CA EPA police chime in it is not lawful to run a car with out a cat.

first off cutting your catalytic converter off is illigal. here what it really does when you remove it. you gain about 1 or 2 HP and maybe 2 flbs of torque. this was the numbers hotrod mag came up with. then you have to deal with the nasty smell. very unpleasent to be around. now the exhaust will be louder with it off but not worth the trouble. my friend car got impounded for no catalytic converter. just put a high flow cat in. its been proven they flow much better then stock. but please leave it on my friend.

Re: catalytic converter question???

I would just gut the cat and put it back. Yes its still illegal but your much less likely to get caught. And as far as the smell I love the smell of an exhaust without a cat and think the cats smell disgusting. well thats my
