Best Exhaust Set Up.

Hi guys.. need some help here for exhaust set up. i am putting 383 stroker with 350 turbo tranny.car is already in shop with engine and trany already rebuilt and ready to install. i am also getting new headers ( headers with special coat for rust protection)

Now my question is am i gonna need mufflers with 2.5" brand new pipe. Or i can go without mufflers. My objective is to get that deep sound.Let me know guys.

And the guy who is doing my new set up is a pro and he suggested me that he can get me 2.5 " piping and he can do all da bending stuff but we need to get 2 mufflers.

Re: Best Exhaust Set Up.

Dude that's really subjective. Everyone has their own opinion of a good "deep sound". I personally like the rumbling of a big-inch motor and WOT screaming of flowmaster 40 series, but that's just me. It's REALLY loud, close to no muffler at all it mostly just shapes the sound doesn't quiet it much.

On the other issue, GET mufflers. Don't do none, you will just have to take it back to cut and install them later. If you choose flowmasters they come in almost every size up to 4.5" so you're good I use flowmaster 40 series 4" in/out and it's really damn loud, never been pulled over yet but I can set off car alarms at 1,500 rpm cruising down my residential street, imagine how loud it is at 6,000. Deafining.

Are you doing single 2.5" pipe into single muffler or true dual into separate 2.5" mufflers? If you have a <400 hp stroker sb you should get dual 2" not 2.5 or 3 unless you're supercharging it. You'll loose backpressure if you go too big, means lost torque down low.
