header coatings... who to use...

Ive heard both good and bad things about the Jet-hot coatings life... some say they stay clean and "shiney" for quite some time and some say they dont last long... looking to find out who has the best and longest lasting coatings out there!
TIA!

Re: header coatings... who to use...

i dont use jet-coat but i have never heard a bad word about their job. there are too many local coaters here in los angeles that do major coating for big names like edelbrock and others that will do it for half less than half of what it costs to ship to jet pay for the coating and get it back - 2 weeks later, when i can get it back 3 days later. but that is a money issue for me not a quality issue.
jet has the best rep in the business and if i lived 20 minutes from them i would probably go there.
you cant go wrong with them.
look on the board lots of times you can find group deals and call jet - they also sell fully coated headers.
good luck

Re: header coatings... who to use...

I went with a company called HPC, which is actually the original parent company of Jet-Hot. They started it all doing Drag Racing headers years ago. Anyway, Jet-hot coating will dull after a time, it is NOT a chrome that stays shiny all the time. However, in their instructions for care they tell you how to clean them with a mild cleaner and some polish that brightens them back up to their original shiny luster. The benefits of the coating far outweigh some "fading" or "dulling" of the luster IMO, especially since the headers are coated inside and out which should make them last as long as you own your car. Besides, with as much of a pain as the headers are to get to, I'll let them get a little dull because shiny headers isn't one of my top priorities. :P
