SLP headers - E.O. / CARB sticker?
I'm getting ready to install some SLP headers I bought ages ago through a Spohn group purchase, but in going through the materials that came with them..I don't seem to have an E.O. sticker. No sticker - not smog legal in California; so I'm stuck.
Any suggestions on how to "obtain" such a sticker?

I don't think you need one. On the CARB web site you can find the exemption number for the headers and give it to the tech doing the smog test. I have had to do this and I know others did the same. Like you I bought mine in the early nineties and they did not put on a sticker/tag at that time.

Only thing I can think of is to contact Spohn or SLP and talk to
them.
Don't think SLP makes them anymore.
Would also have to have the smog tubes on them.
Know my SLP 1 3/4 on mine didn't come with E.O. sticker but I
bought the non smog headers. No smog here anyway.
Might have to provide documentation from Spohn or SLP if you can
even get it. Cal laws pretty nasty
Good Luck

Actually you do. The i's and t's of the CARB rule states you either need a sticker or a tag that designates the part and the EO number and that comes from talking to the BAR, the guys that write the rules. Visit the wrong smog tech, go away without getting tested. Been there done that. Going to make an attempt today or tomorrow without one, see what happens.
I heard SLP would send you one if you called, not sure if you can still do that or not. I'm half tempted to just print my own if some idiot decides to give me any grief over a set of unmarked 50 state legal SLP headers and a copy of the EO.

perhaps if someone could post a high quality scan of a valid E.O. sticker, we could have some reproduced for "restoration" reasons, that is if SLP doesn't have them still.
Wish they had an Email address.

Re: SLP headers - E.O. / CARB sticker?
I only found one picture of what I guess must be the sticker, at least its the only one I could find. I did not get a chance to take my car in yet (more stupid other issues) but should be going in tomorrow and I'm going to print up my own EO sticker for them so they should not be able to give me any grief at all.
I'll post up the pic as soon as I find it again.
Here's the picture, found in another post. Hopefully if they had some other sticker they issued, someone can post it up here.

Re: SLP headers - E.O. / CARB sticker?
you might test-fit those SLP headers on a spare engine
before beginning the install,i bought two pairs of those
back in the 90s,and though they were of very good
design and materials(nice forged S.S. flanges etc
)
,they has rather bad assembly quality
-ist set bought
in '96 had flanges that weren't welded on straight
(double stacked exhaust gaskets and got it to seal)also
y-pipe wasn't straight,had to tweak a bit.in 1998, i
reconed they must have fixed the quality problems after
2yrs, so decided to try another set: this set was worse!
-unusable without extensive rework-reamed summit
and sent them back(they said i had bad engine mount
etc.
)tried eldebrock-those were great quality and
fit really nice (still good today,no problems) the SLPs
made more power,so i might rework and reinstall those
someday

Re: SLP headers - E.O. / CARB sticker?
I've been using the SLP 1 3/4 headers since 1997 and never had a problem passing smog with them and don't have the sticker. Don't worry about it. There is a lot of smog stations around that will over look the headers.
