New Duals, now doesn't sound right
I just recently made a custom true dual exhaust. it consists of hooker super comp (2138) long tube headers, 2 1/4 pipe all the way back with no cats and a cherry bomb glasspack on each pipe. there is no cross over or x-pipe.
the car sounds great free revving but driving under a load you can swear it has a miss. the motor runs smooth though. I just rebuilt it this last winter mostly stock. i have checked everything and even reset the valves. the only thing i havent done is a compression test cause the tester wont fit right cause of the goofy header bends.
but my question, is this a normal thing for the true dual exhaust with headers to sound funky, like a dead cylinder under a load about 1800 to 2500 rpm

First check your spark plug wire order (if the problem came up after putting the headers on).
Have you blocked the exhaust cross-over in the intake manifold, by any chance?
The banks don't fire evenly, so having completely isolated banks can produce an exhaust note that sounds like a miss.

Re: New Duals, now doesn't sound right
to be perfectly honest i cant remember what i did with the crossover in the intake. but if it had one i would have blocked it off, cause that is what i usuall do if i have the intake off a chevy. i not doubting you im just curious, how does that change the exhaust sound?
Re: New Duals, now doesn't sound right
"H" or "X" crossover will fix your sound problem. As Five7Kid stated, the banks don't fire evenly, and having them isolated can produce the sound you're experiencing.

check your spark plug boots. i bet one or 2 split causing the spark to groung out on the block or headers causing your missfire.......... been there done that even with msd wires
