PA Emission requirements....

Okay guys, some direction and input would be great. Here's my situation. My car has a good inspection sticker til 3/10. I believe it was inspected before the engine swap that is now in it. There is a 355 in it, with no egr valve on the intake. Headers to small mufflers to pipe. No catalytics. No evap. No smog pump.

So my question is, what do I have to do here to make it pass PA inspections. I have tried googling the requirements, but what is the requirements to pass emissions testing for my car? I know it is just a visual test, not a sniff test. But since the engine is not stock, are the requirements still the stock components that came on the car in 83? If so, did 83 have a smog pump on the engine? I know the 87 350 did.

Any good links would be appreciated, I plan on doing whatever is necessary to make her pass inspection. Thanks guys.

Re: PA Emission requirements....

It needs all the stock components. They are to be there and operating correctly, but they only check to see if they are there and hooked up. I don't know how many miles you drive a year, but if it is less than 5,000 you can get an exemption. That's how I used to get my '86 to pass, just kept the miles under 5,000.

Why not just drive it to a couple emissions shops and ask them. They'll tell you - they aren't to be scared of - they're just wrench turners with certificates to do inspections. You might even find one that won't look. I know at least 20 shops here that won't look, given that it's not a sniff test they just don't care.
