Broken Muffler

So as I was reversing out of a parking spot yesterday, a piece of metal from a street sign was sticking out of the ground, and it tore a straight line down my muffler, it's ****ed up. Will I do any damage to my 86 maros engine if I remove the muffler at this point? Will it be a problem if I drive the car this way until like... This coming tuesday? I really need an answer ASAP Thanks.

Re: Broken Muffler

You can either leave it there if it poses no hazard to other drivers on the road (pieces flying off or the whole thing) or sawzall it off. The only real thing it will do is change the sound of your exhaust... you could run it like that all of 2010 if you wanted to.

Oh alright thanks, luckily I wont have to do any sawing as its clamped on, but it's hanging from one side so im deffinitely gonna have to remove it.

Just be aware that if any police see you without a muffler you'll likely get a ticket.
