Hedman Longtubes on a 350 T5?
Alright so I am debating on whether or not I should get these headers. I have always liked the idea/sound of longtube headers.
Now I am converting my 91 350 RS camaro to a T-5 next weekend more than likely. I understand there are problems with these headers and T-5 transmissions.
I was wondering if this was the solution to my problem:

So I just cut the collector on the headers and weld that bend on and be good?I only need to do the drivers side correct?
Than when I do that, I would like tto run 3 inch exhaust. True duals would be sweet but I am worried about ground clearance.
Better yet is it possible to just hook it straight up to my 3" american thunder exhaust using a Y-pipe? I don't need a cat anyway as they don't check it in inspections where I am at.
Thanks for any help in advance.

i dont know if you can get away with cutting off the end or not, i know long tubes wouldnt fit on mine with the T-5, i tried. i went with the shorties and there isnt much clearence with them either, good luck

I used them for years with a T-5 and had no issues. When I installed them there was a little interference with the slave cyl bracket. I bent the drivers collector down a little and had no problems for the 3 years or so I ran them.

thats sweet man, glad yours worked, but i bought a set of cheepo long tubes that would fit an automatic 88 305 and couldnt squeeze them in, tried for two days and then returned them for the shorties, but maybe i just wasnt holding my tounge right, wish it woulda worked but oh well

Im in the process of doing this....As soon as it warms up here. With the ball and socket flange it is a pain in the **** now... this puts the flange right even with the slave cylinder and it blows...I tried cutting it off, extending a few inches then denting it.... Would work but I didnt like it since I want every last HP out of my car. I am gonna have the quickest vortec headed car this board and others have ever seen this summer, so I am extending all 4 primary tubes to let the collector hang low enough... I may even this to Doug's 1-3/4" cuz I dont know if these are gonna cut it..
