Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
here are some flow numbers for mufflers for ya below....I use aerochamber mufflers with 3 1/2" pipes, very loud, but the build of the motor also makes i loud....

I'd accept calling the faster better, but not loudest the fastest or best.

If you're talking about "Pulled over 20 Times and I just turned 18", I'd say it'll continue or increase it.
You need to get the exhaust exits beyond the passenger compartment. For 3rd gens, that means out the side or beyond the back bumper.

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
SLP loudmouth or abit quieter SLP loudmouth II. Those are pretty loud systems but do sound good. Sound best on a heads/cam car
Flowmaster 80 is ok sounding, i had that one and liked it. I liked my powerstick chambered tube exhaust much better tho. Similar to loudmouth but instead of resonator or bullet type muffler, you put in a chambered tube

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
A good flowing lound muffler that I've heard on many different cars is the aero chamber by hooker....they are quite loud, I use one myself. The maxflow is another very good sounding muffler and has no exhaust restriction in it. ( It is only one that doesn't).
Another way to make your exhaust louder besides bigger pipes, different mufflers, and headers, is to build the motor.....a stock motor will only get so loud.
Sometimes opening up a stock motor also makes it sound crappy, like an old tractor. Loud doesn't always Sound better....a lot of times it sounds worse!!!! I notice cars A LOT that sound crappy.

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
A dynomax bullet is basically a glass packed/wrapped perforated tube and they flow very well. Very little sound deadening

Actually, Bullets don't have any packing.
The typical "glass pack" inner perforated tube is smaller than the inlet/outlet, which is how they reduce noise, and why they flow so terrible.

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
They advertised it as glass wrapped? 4" case, 3" center core so it has a half inch of something filling that space.

Must have changed since I had mine. There was nothing but space between the inner tube and outer case.

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
Are u talkin about to be legal? There are plenty of cars with turn downs in this area. I've got sound deadner in the car so that will reduce the interior noise too

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
another sound restricting and flow problem area is the precat area.....the pipes are kinda small, and there are something like 13 turns from manifolds to cat.....if you could straighten that out some, it would help greatly. I had my system custom built with mandrel bent piping and had many of those turns removed.

Re: Whats Better? Louder? Faster?
I have a Dynomax bullet muffler on my Firebird. When I got it 5 years ago, there was no packing in it.
I bought 2 Dynomax bullet mufflers for my truck about a year and a half ago, and they have very little packing in them. The packing in it would probably burn away pretty quick.
