Full exhaust question

So I have a 1990 Camaro RS 305 tbi. I want some sound to it. Later down the road ill be swapping in a 350. So I want to replace everything from the headers back.

I use to be a Honda guy so I barely know anything about Camaro's . Im going to purchase http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-17233/ now reading that i saw W/Single 3.0" Cat which im guessing im going to need this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-15043/

now I need help after that. I need to know whats the difference of shorty, mid, long tube headers. What would fit. New Y pipe? Help would be appreciated.

Re: Full exhaust question

Welcome to TGO!

You don't NEED the new cat, unless yours is original & old. The original ones didn't flow the best, nor as efficient as the newer ones, so it certainly can't hurt to change it out.

For headers, get ones with the A.I.R. tubes, to avoid any emissions issues. Your choices range from around $350 & up (IIRC, haven't looked in awhile).

You could look at a set of Dyno Dons headers, but I'm not real sure if his smallest size, would be a good choice on your 305 TBI. But if your going to be swapping to a 350 later anyways? Go ahead & get bigger tubes than you need right now (for a 305) & you won't be wanting to replace them later.

Welcome to the light side. . .

The cat-back is fine, but that's not the cat you want to use. It's not direct-fit, doesn't have the A.I.R. tube. The CTO-9118 is direct-fit to the cat-back.

What headers are you planning on using? You need to expect to spend at least $470 for a proper set ('86-'90 TPI single-cat application).

The cto-9118 isn't much more than a different brand.

Take a 2nd look at the one he linked to....It is 3-way & the pic shows an A.I.R. tube (which a 3-way would).
