1 3/4 INCH HEADERS ON 305?
Hey guys, this was totally not on my agenda...I saw a 91 z for sale last week, looked at it yesterday, and am buying it for a daily driver! 305 TPI 5spd car, awsome condition(got it for 3k). Since I havnt yet sold my SLP headers, I'm thinkin about keeping them for this car. I've heard various opinions about the large tubes on a 305. A stock 305 doesn't really flow enough air to warrent the bigger tubes. Since this will be just a daily driver to enjoy, I have no intention of installing a 350 or spending a lot of money to go faster with it, but why should I not use what is one of the best headers ever built for our cars if I already have them? Looking for opinions! Anybody running large tubes on a 305? Any input is greatly appreciated. I do have a guy really serious about buying the headers, so I need to decide asap! Thanx!

slp's dont fit really well. If you have somebody how really wants them, i would sell them. Look into hooker 2055's, or if you want 1 3/4, which wont hurts anything, look into dynodons headers, he is here in the boards, they are the nicest best fitting 1 3/4 shorties available for a 3rd gen, not the cheapest, but really good an have a very nice y-pipe setup.

If you just want to drive the car, then why mess with the hassle of installing headers? They aren't a simple addition, and they aren't really well matched to the rest of the car... Why bother?

Just figured I'd maybe use them since I already have them. Now I wish I would've kept my superram! Does anybody make a nice aftermarket system that bolts to the stock manifolds(like the banks system from back in the day)? I would do that since the car will need new exhaust within a year or so.

I have the SLP 1 3/4" on my car and they fit well. Does not interfere with the steering or brake lines which can be moved a bit for clearance if need be.
Of course with any F-Body, it's a pain to put headers on.

Keep the headers. They will wake up the 305 big time. If you have a G92 car, it will get you alot closer to the 13's. Does your car have dual cats?
