I would like to see pics of peoples y-pipes that are running long tues a 700r4 and aftermarket cross members

I've got 68460s and a Spohn crossmember, probably one of the more difficult combinations for routing exhaust. No pictures of it installed, though.

 

i had the umi crossmember and with the longtunes it would have beeen waay too low for ground clearance so i went back to the stock crossmemeber and notched that abit ill

 

Id be interested to see it before you swap back to the stock peace, im running a UMI tranny cross member, long tubes and im lowered

 

i have stainless works long tubes, 700 r4 and a spohn x member.

i need to take it to the muffler shop so they can finish welding the joints as i just tacked it together. its 2.5 mandrel bent, should flow a hell of a lot better and be a tad better tucked up than the old one.

 

Love the dremel in the first pic... how many cutoff wheels did you go through on each joint?

 

LOL, only one, i used it to cut off the tacks when i screwed up

those dremels are pretty handy, took of the original hinges with those.
THERE I WENT THROUGH 2 1/2 LOL

 

Think... buying 2 or 3 J bends would be adequate for the bends for a y-pipe? what have people used or order to make theirs?

 

I used 3 U bends to build mine, but that was to get over the axle, too.

Funny you should comment. I just removed the entire exhaust with headers and crossmember and am swapping it into another 3rd gen.
With any luck I'll have it done tonight.

 

That is one of the best looking exhaust jobs I have seen. Did you have any pictures after the Y ?

 

It's just a Flowmaster 3" cat back (minus the cat) with a single 30 series muffler in the stock location. I just grafted on a header flange and bolted it to another flange welded to the y-pipe (more or less).

 

Do you have any pics of it on the car now? maybe some ground clearance shots again it looks great!

Got the part# for the claps that connect the tubing off the headers to the magnaflow y-pipe?
those are lap joint style right? is that y-pipe made to slip fit the tubes inside it?

 

Off hand, no.
The pair in the picture are from the local tractor trailer repair shop. I asked for a stepped band clamp for 2 1/2" pipe. If you're stuck and can't find what you're after, I can check with the shop for a part number.
