HELP!! 1991 Firebird Exhaust leak..
Okayy so..i have not seen this myself, i have just been told about it, but i guess there is a hole or something in the exhaust pipe or whatever it is that runs under the whole car and we need to replace it..does anyone know where i can fix this for decent money? my family doesnt have alot of spare money and i cant drive it untill it gets fixed. also, the turning signal deal is broken..it works when you want to turn right but when you wanna go left nothing happens..i guess my uncle broke it a few years ago and we have to replace that too. SO..if anyone can help me out that would be lovely..i just was wondering if anyone knew where to get these parts..if not, its cool. ill figure it out. haha. okayy thanks!!!

well as far as the exhaust, if its just a hole then take it to anyone who can weld and tell them to weld it up, its its basically a rusted through intermediate pipe which you said it runs the lenght of the car then youll have to buy a new system and then either install it yourslef or a friend install it. its not very difficult or any muffler shop can buy and replace it for you, but it will probably be very expensive. Id say justbuy a decent cat-back from summit or jegs they have a dynomax which is under 200 and install it yourself. for the turn signal sounds like the switch is probably broke in the coumn, do you hear a click when you push it in the direction, or does it folp around? if it clicks try the turn signal flasher first part is about 3-6 dollars, might be somewhat bad, mine was but it wouldnt let either flash. that part is located under the dash on the right hand side of the steering coumnits up under the part that has the data connector attached to it, a couple screws and it comes down. or does it work in the one direction but do you see the arrow light solid for the other? if it does you have a bad bulb easy fix cost less than $5

thanks!!! sorry if these questions sound ridiculous..im a 17 year old girl and i don't really know much about this stuff. i can't drive it until all these problems get fixed. i also found out that something with the transmission is leaking..its gunna cost a freaking arm and a leg to get my baby back to normal
the deal with the turn signal..when i push it down everything is all loose and the switch jiggles..i don't even know how my uncle broke it that bad..i asked my dad about it and he said we have to replace everything that has to do with it..it doesnt make sense because when you wanna turn right everything works perfect, its not loose or anything. i dont know..im pretty depressed about this situation..we dont have the money for all these repairs, my parents are both unemployed, im the only one with a job and i sure as hell cant afford it. i seriously wish i could though..if the turn signal thing doesnt cost too much i can pay for that myself but the trans and exhaust are way too expensive..if theres something we can get for 200 or less like you said that would be cool, we can handle that..but now the transmission..ahh!!! my grandpa bought the car brand new in 1991 and if him and my dad didnt drive the car like *******s back in the day im sure we wouldnt have these problems, haha. this car has been through corn fields and ditches and they beat the living daylights out of it. anyway, thanks again for replying to this! your a big help

Hi, I'm still figuring this stuff out as well, so I know how you feel. Don't really have any advice on the blinker, might wanna make a post under "Electrical". But the exhaust really shouldn't be a very difficult fix, and is quite cheap if you do it yourself. Basically it just involves unbolting the old system from the hangers, switching out the intermediate pipe, and putting it back together. If you've got a couple friends to help you who know their basics, you should be able to get it done in a couple hours, and it'd be way cheaper than getting a shop to do it.
For the intermediate pipe itself, you could call around local junkyards and see if any have some thirdgens, I wouldn't imagine a used intermediate pipe would cost much at all. Or as Motopsysco suggested, you could take the opportunity to help out performance a little too and get an aftermarket catback, though that will run you a couple hundred. I'd suggest keeping an eye on the local Craigslist for stock or aftermarket exhaust parts, maybe someone will be upgrading theirs and have the stock parts for sale. Anyways, thats my
, good luck and hope you get her fixed up and running soon!
