I know i want magnaflow exhuast but...
I know i want an magnaflow exhuast, But I dont know what i want for headers, y-pipe, and high-flow cat? Heres my requirments
I want good peformance
I want the exhuast to be more tame but to have a old school muscle car sound, but on WOT i want it to be extra mean sounding and louder but not extremly loud
I will need the exhaust to work with possibly a 327 and my 305 currently
I absolutely need the whole setup to not be rusting out in one oregon winter as this will be a daily driver for several years but i will not mind having to coat the headers
I dont mind paying a good chunk of money for everything but I dont wanna be wasting money for a extra 1 or 2 hp, And i honestly cant supply a price range but again nothing to exotic
I prefere for the headers to be equal for hp and torque
I rather have their be little to no modifications to make whatever fit
I will be doing all exhuast work with the engine in the vehicle and the easier to install is better
I also want good ground clearance for everything but She will not be lowered
Also everything got to be emission legal
Where is the best place to buy these parts?
And am i missing anything else for parts exhaust wise? other then bolts of course
Thank you.

for headers you want hooker 2055's. there shorties so you have great clearance and they come with all the emission air tubing. it also comes with a y pipe which is nice but its only for a single cat. i just did my exhaust earlier this week. i used a magnaflow high flow cat with a 3" slip fit on the y side and 3" fit with a flange on the back side. i got a flowmaster cat back which a am very pleased with. it was the american thunder series. its the same as the 80 series i think. its got a very low rumble at idle but when you hop on it it gets realy loud but not annoyingly so. im very pleased with how it turned out. it all bolted right up to my 305. its aluminized steel so that should help protect from the elements. the cat was stainless steel. the cat and cat back bolted together perfectly

oh and the y pipe that comes with the 2055's is 3" which is why i got the 3" slip fit cat. those headers will really free up a lot of power. i would also suggest getting the headers ceramic coated. i got a quote from jet hot a while ago to dip both headers and the y pipe for about $100. my cat back was $385 the cat was $150 and the headers are about $460 on most sites. i got my cat and cat back on autopartswarehouse.com . they had both for the cheapest i found and the had free shipping after fifty bucks.

I just currently finished my exhaust I ran 2460 Hooker shorty headers, along with custom pipe back to magnaflow's 16829 which is a three inch system. Also with the headers to make easier installation you can purchase a y pipe designed through hooker headers. Personally this system is too mild for me but with what you looking for it sounds perfect here's a link where you can hear the system on a 305 http://magnaflow.com/02product/shope...zone=all&id=75

I have no experience in how they fit but Dynomax makes a header and y pipe for third generation Camaro's. The part number is 87733 and they are ceramic coated. They are a little on the high side on the net but a guy on ebay has them for $325.00 shipped and they are 50 state legal. I ordered a set from this eBay seller and have gotten my tracking number but they haven't arrived yet so can't really say how they fit first hand and since it will be later in the spring before my motor is completely ready to install I won't know until then. You may want to look into these because $325 for ceramic headers with y pipe is pretty cheap considering the lowest I have seen elsewhere is over the $800.00 mark for these headers. I also want to note the part number says its for 86-90 so i don't know if they will fit all other years or not but from what i have heard there are small differences that may hinder the install to the stock cat and back but since you will be replacing cat and all anyway it may not be an issue
