exhaust system question
i am wanting to put a complete new exhaust system on my 85' Z28, 305cu in. i was looking at the magnaflow cat back system. the problem is, i am wanting to eliminate the cat, and go with a complete system from engine to tailpipes. does anyone make such a system for my car? of course, this would be for "off road" use only....
anyone have any ideas how to best achieve this?? Rick

Nobody has a complete system package, from exhaust ports to rear bumper, that I'm aware.
But, the '86-'90 TPI single cat application parts will all bolt together. Headers, cat back, etc.
The best way to fill the gap between the header y-pipe outlet and the cat back inlet is with a direct-fit '86-'90 TPI single cat. Especially for an "off road" vehicle - off road might be different.

Re: exhaust system question
interesting.........with the single cat, do you think this would improve overall performance and sound? doesn't the cat steal alot of performance and isn't it difficult to get decent sound with a cat in the system? mainly i am looking to improve on the overall sound of the car. Rick

The replacement cats out there these days are all high-flow. A direct-fit 3" will not reduce flow with a 305.
The cat tends to mellow out the sound by reducing the high frequencies. Much better sounding, in my opinion.

Re: exhaust system question
what aftermarket cat do you recommend? I just got dynomax 87733 headers with air tubes and really want a high flow cat to go along with it

magnaflow..not too bad!
if you plan on eliminating the cat, then you could just fill the space with a "test pipe".
The magnaflow cat back system for the camaro is pretty nice. free shipping in Canada and the US...can't beat that. This cat back can be at your door for$464.18
