Headers and y-pipe 3rd gen question

Headers and y-pipe 3rd gen question

Ok so heres my question guys cuz I cant decide on my own.I have a 86 iroc with a 305.Did a chip,airfoil,cat back,mild cam.256/268dur-449/456 lift and im installing the engine now.Soooo the previous owner put a 3 in y-pipe and hollowed out the cat and 3inch back with a dynomax muffler on it.Would I make more power with the H.O. exhaust manifolds and a 3inch y-pipe or to run the small tube headers with the 2/25 y pipe that mate to those headers.I have both.I would like to remove all the air pump crap and clear up the engine compartment but I would leave it all stock if you think I wouldnt benifit from smaller tube headers and smaller y-pipe.

The worst headers are almost always better than the best manifolds.

What headers are we talking about? Flowtech?

Ya I do believe they are the flowtech or some sort of knock off.I dont have the box just the actual headers and y-pipe.Im told they are for the stock 305 and not for the H.O. engine or iroc tpi engine and Im thinking its because they are the smaller diameter.They still are headers and I did think they would help alittle even if they are smaller and cleaning up the engine compartment and losing the emission weight of excessorys would help too
