Wideband O2 Location on 2055s...Need Second Opinion
Ok guys i need to weld on my WB O2 bung. My initial though was to put it next to the stock O2, but looking at it further there isn't any room.
So now I'm thinking about putting it about 2" downstream of the collector on the Y-pipe. My only concern is if the ball and socket flange leaks a little bit, will it scew the O2 reading? I don't think it would, but would like to know what you guys think. I know it doesn't leak now, but you never know after i take it off and weld on the bung it might.
Thanks Guys!

Thats about where I had my sensor. I had leaks in my exhaust I know for sure, but my readings were close enough to match dyno readings at the tail pipe so i dont think it was a big difference over the entire exhaust length. Plugs looked ok when i checked so I went with it.
I have heard that leaks either before or after can skew readings but most exhaust systems have alittle back pressure, so exhaust leaks OUT and new air should not beable to get IN.
ANother option is to just put it in place of your stock O2 and run a narrow band signal from the wideband. Most widebands have a NB simulator. Just use that as the ecm input and run 1 o2 sensor

Thanks for the response! My aem gauge doesn't have a narrowband signal (that i know of), so i think i will just mount it in the Y. I'll call aem on monday and see what they say about the NB signal

The gauge is suppose to read the wideband, but the ECM for closed loop operation needs the stock O2 sensor input. what I'm saying is you can use the wideband for BOTH. One wire is for the wideband signal that goes to the wb gauge. The other is for the narrowband signal which goes to the computer. You just splice into the wires.

I can't do that with the aem. It's only got a 0-5v output and isn't the stock nb 0-1v?

Well if you have the same one I have you can, there is a little switch in the back of the pod you use a small screwdriver to get at it. Not sure how you would go about doing it though, you would have to read the instructions.

IF your wideband sensor only has 1 output then your out of luck and will need to weld on a new bung. Put it on the other header collector if you can. Else stick it on the Y pipe a few inches down from the ball/socket flange joint.
