Manifold studs for Y-Pipe attachment questions
Manifold studs for Y-Pipe attachment, I need to know...
1. if you have a good tip to remove the old ones.
I have PB blaser soaking on them
And the double nut trick is not going to work for all of them.
Threads are way to striped.
2. is any kind of thread lock needed, for reinstallation, if so what kind
Thanks CoR

Re: Manifold studs for Y-Pipe attachment questions
So after messing with it again today no luck.
I have tryed PB blaster, hitting it with a hammer,
and Heating it with Mapps gas.
I have run out of ideas.
I guess im going to have to drill it out
(Unless one of you have an idea)
Got any idea on what size drill bit to use?
Want to just go get a new one to make it as painless as posible.
After seeing how hard they are to get out.
Do you think it is just due to age, or is there some
kind of thread lock that they put on these things?

Re: Manifold studs for Y-Pipe attachment questions
They are just rusted in. I was able to get mine out by clamping the manifold in a vice and using vicegrips to work them back and forth until they unscrewed. When you put in the new ones, just thread them in by hand, no threadlock is used. Good luck.

Re: Manifold studs for Y-Pipe attachment questions
Hey thanks for the response.
Now I have a new question i went to car quest and got some new studs
(for the stock manifolds)
and they sold me 3/8-16 studs. I went to thread them in and it threads
in, but they seem to lose. They wobble around a little.
So my question is what size studs should i be useing?
Any help would be appreciated, this is the only thing that is holding
me up from getting my car back on the road.
I am anxious to drive her again.
