true duals installed at shop
got set of heddmen long tube headers so decied to go with a true dual set up. went to local shop and they quoted me $597.93 for install of headers and the dual set up i went with tht cause thats a decent price and the guys sounded like they knew what they were doing. so they told me 4 hours and it wuld be done go down like 8 hours later after work and they said they ran into problems. first it took em longer to install headers then they thought and now hes sayin that i need straight wires for it to run. he also said sumthing else but it was loud and i didnt catch it. he then tells me that im gonna get charged 200$ more for the wires and labor. i think its bs that i was quoted 597 and then cause of there lack of knowledge get charged even more. and also what else could be going wrong that wuld cause this to keep going up in price

Get your own wire w/90* ends, instal them yourself....
If they dont know the amount of time time it takes to install headers on a car made in the 80s they should not be in business
You also need to remember the shop CANNOT do unauthorized work/repairs then make you pay.....
The first time i did headers on a 3rd gen TPI was to instal SLP 1-3/4 headers on a brand new T/A back in '89 and it took 2 days had a problem with the bolt holes not lining up with the heads(long story but i won) needless to say the next set took 6 hrs and of course all smog associated equip. was retained.

First, they are right when they say that 'stock' wire plugs may not fit with the headers and may end up burning through. I bought a set of Accel wires from my local Advance store and did them myself. Would I charge someone $200 to do theirs? Probably. Didn't cost nearly that for me to do AND I learned how to do that.
Second, I don't know about long tubes, but I bought shorties, two Thrush mufflers and exhaust tips and a local shop did mine for $150.
Granted, I had the wires already done and supplied all the parts. If they were including mufflers and tips, then maybe that isn't such a bad price...
