Question about headers and pully system
i got a 91 firebird tbi, I'm wanting to get me a set of headers and a y pipe, but i noticed something.
With the cars stock manifolds; the a/c compressor and alternator have a mounting bracked to the manifolds for support.
well the brackets won't bolt to the headers and i dont know what to do with the brackets. won't removing them from the a/c compressor and alternator mess something up or cause my pully system to break?

Re: Question about headers and pully system
a problem i and many others have had . retain the long bolts that the brackets bolt to . measure the thickness of the manifold you remove , subtract thickness of of header flange . cut a 3/8 i.d. pipe that length and use it as a spacer . a stack of washers will also work . i used a stack of washers at first till i got some S/S pipe cut to length . has worked for me on several cars . good luck .
