Bought Hedman headers ( long tube) for my 88 camaro (350) after an hour and a half i finaly got the passenger side in but had to pull out the starter and now the header are rubbing on starter, trans cooler lines, lower A-arm mount also the headers dont sit flat on the block... any advise? is there anyway i can get a smaller starter? ( in size)

Are they hitting the starter or the K member?

 

when i was trying to squeeze them in it was hitting the k member but got it past that, now it is for sure hitting the starter and the lower A-arm mount

 

It's normal to have to grind the K member for clearance, even if your motor mounts are new.

Do you have a 153 or 168 tooth flywheel?

 

i honestly do not know how could i check ? i just bought this car used bout a month ago tops still learning while trying to upgrade

 

Is it 12" across, or 14"? Are the starter bolt holes in a straight line perpendicular to the body of the starter, or staggered?
