94 lt1 header recommendations?
94 lt1 header recommendations?
Anybody recommend a certain set of headers for my 94 z28? right now having problems with exhaust... muffler back is full of water...so right now its kicking out right after the cat. its got cai, 58mm holley TB and ported intake to match. but its stock exhaust. it runs a little weak could this be the problem? i am interested in the hooker super comps, but my wallet doesnt agree fully. i will be running open headers till i can build a true dual system any tips or views on that? all input is great thanks!
Re: 94 lt1 header recommendations?
You can run any SBC header with a 1 5/8" or larger primary which rounds out to about 90% of the headers available. Your O2s wont like running open for long, Id unplug them/remove them and deal with the MIL until you get the rear exhaust put on. Most 3rd gen header systems will have zero, possibly one O2 bung. You need two. I dont like any of the header O2 spots, so Id recommend moving the pair down some into the Y-pipe and angled slightly better for max clearance

Looks like you've a '94 (4th gen), most everyone here is running a 3rd gen (82-92). Check out SummitRacing.com or Jegs.com for your application.
Open headers are louder than crap. That's my view on that. I broke my new 383 in with open Edelbrock TES headers. There is going to be no way you can drive it on the street with open headers and not get a sound violation ticket at least around here. Not to mention depending on your state you could also get a ticket for not having a CAT present. Long tubes are nice and can be had for pretty cheap on ebay. I bought my last 2 sets on ebay for $300-$400 coated.
If your not making sick power or high RPMs I would just stick to shorties there far easier to install at least on a 3rd gen.
