muffler on 83 camaro?
so here's the deal i have true dual ran on my car now but like most other people who do i have ground clearance issues so i bought a set of shorty headers and im gonna just run a 3" y pipe like stock but i want to keep the sound close to what i have now right now i am running two cherry bomb extreme mufflers and i love the sound they have but cherry bomb doesn't make an extreme for the camaro so i am wondering what muffler i should go with i want it kinda loud at idle but not extremely loud till i get on it any suggestions would be great thanks

Well... If you are going back to a near-stock setup (which I run on all my cars), Then I would suggest a single chamber flowmaster "Race" muffler. They dont cost a lot and other than the mufflex setup, I prefer the sound. Not too obnoxious, but plenty loud when you really get on it.

thanks for the imput i have talked to a couple people and they told me about the 80 series which is for f body cars where the muffler gets mounted behind the axle and it is on in and two out setup like the stock muffler for the dual look so i did some research on them and from what i gathered they sound pretty close to the 40 series with that mean muscle car tone

I have that on my '86 IROC and I have been kind of disappointed in it. TOO tame sounding, even with a 3.5" cat-back, magnaflow 3.5" highflow cat and shorty headers, its still too tame in my opinion. Going to a single-out race muffler sometime soon, I think.

You could try hushpower's 3.0 race muffler? But be prepared, one will run you about 200 bucks, but i guess these are what you would want to use if you want about maxinum flow, so expect them to be farely loud.
Im going be using the 3.0 hushpower on my iroc.
