Need a new exhaust
Need a new exhaust
Ok, after looking through as many exhaust threads as I can find I have a couple questions about a new exhaust on my 88 Trans Am -
I haven't seen anything about a Y pipe vs. X pipe in any thread... I'm guessing I just missed it because that seems like a pretty big debate. Anyways, can I get a quick run down of pros + cons?
Also, I see that the hooker 2055 seems to be one of the better headers and as far as mufflers/cat back systems/what have you seems to be a matter of personal preference. What about the actual cat? I'm from Michigan, where there is no emissions or smog testing, so is running a true dual w/out cats worth it?
Thanks guys!

Re: Need a new exhaust
these cars use by nature a y-pipe, since you're going from two headers to a single-pipe catback. unless you're running a true duals, you can't run an x-pipe (since there's no place to run that second outlet).

althought that second outlet could be used as electric exhaust cut out, could it not?
