Will Hedman longtubes go in smooth or...
My brother is trying to get me to put these on my car (1990 305 TPI.) I have a feeling it's going to be a HUGE pain.
My question is how much trouble would putting these in if I was going to run true duals? It is true duals or do something like I have now, with the headers meeting at a Y and going back down a single pipe to my muffler with dual outlets...I have Edelbrock headers now but I don't know what they are as far as size.
I'm pretty lost with exhaust systems, so any input would be great.

i have the heddman longtubes on my car, and they were not bad at all. the driver side went right in from under the car and the passenger side i hade to remove my starter and it went right in. im alsso running true duals and my setup is heddman longtubes, heddman s-tensions into summit glasspacks dumped. but i think my clearance is better than most since i have a t-56 with a crossmember made for true duals.

I did it on my T5 and it was a bit of a pain. I put the drivers side on a bent the collector down slightly using a jack handle so it would clear the slave. Other then that is was cake.
Kasey will that cross member work on a t5 as well?

Can anybody say if they'll work with a 168 tooth flywheel and typical big starter, or will I have to switch in a 153?
I've seen people mention unbolting the engine and lifting the passenger side. Was that the Hookers not the Hedmans?

i've done both hooker and hedman LT's. its way easier with the starter/oil fliter and oil pressure sending unit off. the hookers both went in from the bottom with no problems, the hedmans needed a primary to be dented on the driver's side at the k-member and the drivers a-arm needed a corner cut off. both were easy in/out as long as the car is high enough off the ground.
Keep in mind i have no emissions control on the car so that may be why i didn't need to jack the motor up for the hookers... im not sure.

I also have the Headman long-tubes. If you have later style heads, the sparkplugs do not clear, I had to cut some parts off my control arm brackets to get them to fit, and plumbing the piping past my 700R4 was very time consuming and leaves minimal ground clearance. To top it off, during club dyno sessions, I'm seeing a number of cars w/ smaller engines and Dyno Dons' shortie headers out pull my long-tube 383!
