question??

I think I have an easy question for you guys.
I have a stock 1990 gta with 5.7 350 v-8. I am planning on getting a set
of (more than likely), flowtech headers (either 11102 or 1116).
As I was reading on the vehicle appications specs I saw footnotes for
angle plug heads.
I just wanted to know, how does one if they have angle plug heads????

update:*** I have done some more research and have FINALLY decided on
getting a set of hooker 2460 headers. New question is what are
collectors and do I need them? No cats and keeping the stock
3" exhause piping and flowmaster muffler.
Does anyone have any experiences with the hooker 2460's good or bad??
Also, is there any installation tips I need to know (removing any kind of a/c
equipment or hear box, etc.)? I will already have the heads out due to replacing the valve seals and replacing engine gaskets.

Craig

Re: question??

I just got a set of hooker 2460 a few days ago so i havnt run them long enough to tell, but so far i like them. they are pretty easy to install driver side drops in from the top and passenger side has to go in from the bottom. i deleted the AIR tubes and valve and had brass plugs in the stock manifolds already. i justa had to remove the A/c bracket and alternator bracket, dipstick, passenger valve cover, and the fan switch that screws into the block on passenger side it should be even easier i f you have the head off on the pssenger side

Collectors are the part of the header where the primaries (individual tubes from each exhaust port) merge. You don't get to choose whether or not you need them; they're as much a part of headers as wheels are to a car. You'll need a y-pipe to connect the headers to your exhaust, the stock y-pipe will not work. Hooker makes one for the 2460s but it is only 2-1/2" in diameter, which is stupid since the collectors are 3". Your best bet is to get one custom made at an exhaust shop.

I installed a set of 2460s in my previous Camaro. IIRC I had to remove only the spark plugs and starter and managed to fit both headers in from the top. This might be more difficult with A/C in the way. If all else fails you can get them in from the bottom. No issues with them interfering with anything except for the plug wire boots (had mix n match of straight and 90° boots).

If you're getting the plain painted mild steel ones, strip off the paint and apply something like flameproof VHT or something specific for exhaust. The black stuff they put on it blisters off within a few hours of operation and then there's nothing stopping the rust. Spring for a set of plug wires with 90° boots, route them to not rest on the exhaust. You might need to get shorty plugs as well.
