Quick question about the Hooker 16820 cat-back

First of all, sorry that I posted two threads back to back here, just have so many small questions.

Okay I am looking into this hooker cat-back system. On the summit website (linked), the details kind of confuse me. It reads:

Intermediate Pipe Diameter (in): 3.000 in.
Tailpipe Diameter (in): 2.500 in.
Tip Outlet Size: 3.000 in.

Now, I know what the tip outlet size is (fairly obvious), but I am not sure what the difference between intermediate pipe diameter and tailpipe diameter is. I would like to know if the system just goes down to 2.5" to fit onto the stock cat. Because if it does, I would definitely do some handywork, and make my system a full 3". However, I'm not too sure where the 2.5" to 3" change happens! If it doesn't happen until the muffler, then I definitely don't want this cat-back. Neither hooker's or jegs' website clears this up.

If anyone knows the difference between intermediate pipe diameter and tailpipe diameter, please explain!

Re: Quick question about the Hooker 16820 cat-back

it says tail pipe diameter is 2.5, and the intermediate is 3". The pipe is 3" front eh cat to the muffler, than 2 2.5" pipe from the muffler with 3" tips on them.

I cannot tell you what they do for the cat flange. depending on application it would be a few different sizes.

Thanks! Just to clear this up, 2.5" would be plenty for that, since it is split into two pipes? And by "plenty" I mean good flow, minimal back-pressure.
