Headers for different body

Has anyone ever try using headers from an older year camaro or maybe another car? I was wondering if another year header would fit on these thirdgens. The 81 camaro or the newer impala...... Anyone experiment?

ONLY headers designed for the thirdgen will fit the thirdgen.

Re: Headers for different body

Just about any shorty header will work, and the "mid" length Montecarlo headers will work, that's all I have tried. I love my ebay stainless long tubes. Do it right the first time, because can you really aford to do it again?

Thanx you...yes these are the responses I like...
I don't need anyone to tell me that all headers are built for the body of the car...I already know that...
Im just asking if anyone has ever experimented with headers from different cars...you know think outside the box
I'm just saying since we are all looking for the best bang for the buck...why does Hooker sell the 3rd gen SuperComps for $500+ but the 2nd gen SuperComps are half the price?
So that's what got me thinking outside the box.
Check out the SuperComps for the 94-96 impala ss and tell me they wouldnt fit our cars.

Re: Headers for different body

I don't know about 2nd gens but 3rd gen supercomp long tubes have a slip tube. I think they are also larger tube size. I highly doubt they would fit as LTs are a pain to install even when they are made for the application.

Re: Headers for different body

Almost all SuperComps for sbc are 1 3/4 primaries. Have you seen them? They are more like a shorty header.
