exhaust question..
What's up guys I picked up a 87 GTA....the previous owner put edelbrock headers on it but ran dual exhaust from the headers back its 2 2 in pipes...I took it to a exhaust ship to see how much they would charge me to put just the exhaust in cause they ran straight pipe to the back and it sounds like craps...he told me he would do it for .450 but would have to change it back to a single pipe I don't want that but is that the only way to get the cat back to sounding decent?

Re: exhaust question..
You have to run cats to pass emissions. If your car only came with 1 cat, you can only have one cat. Do you know if your car originally had the dual cats or did it come with only 1?
I don't know why he said he would have to put it back to a single pipe, unless he's doing it because he "has to" for state regulations. In that case, I'd try and find a more...hot-rod friendly shop and see what they say.
Now, you can do what you want, but for my disclaimer, you can't modify the original style exhaust without breaking Federal Law, so that's why the shop probably said what it said.

I'd keep looking around. He probably saw what kind of work it was and was trying to get out of it. Look up any local car clubs in your area, they generally have people who know where to go for these kinds of things.
