Y-pipe size

I have approx 450hp and I was wondering how bad the 2 1/4 y pipe on the slp headers is hurting me? Do you think it would be worth building a new 2 1/2 y pipe for them

Re: Y-pipe size

yes, it's hurting you. i put a 2.5" y-pipe to 3" single on a set of 2460's on a 260hp 350 crate and it was a HUGE improvement.

there are some calculations on pipe size somewhere. PipeMax is a program you can buy to tell you. you need a certain area per x amount of HP. figure out how much HP you have, then finding the area isn't hard. to find diameter it's just 2(sqrt(area/Pi)). i don't know how to tell you to find the area needed though.

what size was the original on the 2460's mine is 2 1/4 into 3" largest I can go with slps is 2 1/2.
