2.8 Header Creation

I'm trying to save me a couple 3 or 4 hounded dollars so I decided I'm going to design and create my own custom headers for my 1984 Firebird 2.8 L V6. My brother and I need a list of things to create them. He told me that I need an exhaust header flange? can anyone link me to anything that will help me build them? Thank you!

Have them made by a machine shop, take them a gasket for bolt hole spacing, why, you want like inch thick flanges, no leaks

That's what I was told. My brother works at a machine shop and he can make them. I just need the basic supplies like the flanges and that's about it. And my brother can take it from there.

no, he meant to get a gasket and have a machine shop make the flanges using a gasket as a template... and they only need to be 5/16"-3/8" thick... and don't expect to set the world on fire with the performance increase- it will still be a gutless 2.8 that will be beat by a stock 305 that will also probably get better gas mileage..

Re: 2.8 Header Creation

alls u need is some 3inch wide 1/4 to 3/8's thick flatstock u cut them to the width of the head surface and drill the holes in it. ive made them many times for turbo builds on the 2.8/3.1/3.4

u want a 1.5inch center hole and use 1.5inch tubing for the header primarys
ideally u want 2 inch 3 into one collectors but they are hard to find, summit sells 3-1 2.5 inch collectors for 34 bucks a pair lil overkill for the 2.8 but they will work just fine

they will make a nice improment over the cast iron manifolds , and u will see nice gains with a full ex system
