Hell Yeah, Especially in the L98 the Flowmaster 80's Series 3" Catback exhaust is perfect, Especially when your used to the stock muffler, it just brings it to LIFE !!

Forget the Flowmaster 80 and go with the 40 series. Much deeper and louder sound. Here is a video:

Re: flowmaster vs stock
It'll go from sounding like a car exhaust, to sounding like you're dragging a 55-gallon drum on a 3' chain behind your car 100% of the time.
It'll probably get REAL old REAL fast. I know it sure did when I had one. I. HATED. it. Worst exhaust mistake I ever made on this car.

Re: flowmaster vs stock
I love the way my 80 series sounds at idle. Little more drone then Id like at cruise, but not bad. Not a big fan of how it sounds when you let off at higher rpms though.
Either way, it is up to the owner to decide what he/she thinks sounds the best.

Re: flowmaster vs stock
Just throwing in my .02 cents but a great sounding AND performing choice is the Hooker Aerochamber! Just as good of sound but will make more power. It's been documented countless times on dyno's. Check it out if you haven't bought yet!

Re: flowmaster vs stock
It will sound even better if its the whole cat back system with 3" pipes as opposed to just the muffler but if your going for a factory look, just the muffler will suffice.

Re: flowmaster vs stock
Check with the local muffler shops, you can get pretty much any setup you want, make new piping for a custom fit, if its not in stock piping. Dual cats or single cat.
Those two are the same setup just pictured differently ^

You might want to stay there and take photos of the install process. Its always nice to document modifications like this and keep a few files for your car on the computer.Ive been doing it for over 6 years now and have some really nice photos.

Re: flowmaster vs stock
okay hi to all i have an 89 camaro 305 tbi and i was wondering if i could use the flowmaster 10 series muffller 1 inlet with dual outlets even though its not a crossflow muffler, i intend on hooking the cat pipe to one of the dual outlets and have a pipe running out of the other outlet and another pipe running out of the inlet like the crossflow setups. will this work Please give FEEDBACK!!

Re: flowmaster vs stock
I'm thinking you'll love that 80 series, its what i have on mine. but if it doesn't sound quite as nice as you wanted, just change out your stock pipes...put a new ypipe on mine comported to stock, MASSIVE difference, got that flowmaster sound i was looking for.

Re: flowmaster vs stock
do you still have all the stock crinkle pipes on there? i had the same set up on my '89, then i got a new y pipe and it just MAKES the sound...i would definitely recommend that, plust those crinkle bends don't allow very good air flow

Re: flowmaster vs stock
I have run the flowmaster 80 and as mentioned its too loud for me.Maybe thats what you like but i prefer a good mellow sound when im just driving around.I went with the hooker max flow.3' in and out straight through design which is better on performance. It is much more mellow at speed without the droan and i can carry on a conversation and here the radio without turning it up.It is still a tough sonding tone, but when you get on it you can tell its not stock.I swear the butt dyno felt a difference as well.
Re: flowmaster vs stock
So how do you like it? I went with 1.5 inch headers straight to a fully custom 3inch pipe and purchased a cat back 3inch flowmaster 80 series pipe and muffler with dual 2.5 inch outlets. It really hollers when I put my foot in it and I love the way it sounds at speed .worth every penny. ($79.95 or the headers and $300 for the rest. installed)

Re: flowmaster vs stock
i agree, inside the car it can drone out a little bit, but thats nothing a crap ton of dynamat won't fix. plus my car has so many rattles and noises (especially on gravel roads) that I've grown accustomed to it being loud inside.
