85 Iroc Build - Dual Exhaust
Working on my dual exhaust thought there might be some interest. Primary consideration is for ground clearance as the car will be LOW. Exhaust is just tacked together at the moment as I am working on clearance issues over the axle and not sure about the dual tips yet. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Can you get a better picture of your muffler setup? Ive been wanting to do something lke that for a while.
Im guessing you have a custom crossmember for ground clearance?

I think flat tips look better on our cars, just my opinion though.

Re: 85 Iroc Build - Dual Exhaust
I am traveling for work for a few days so will get a few more pics when I get home. The crossmember is home made and so is the trans mount so that I could raise the x member up as high as possible while still keeping it straight and simple shaped. I also used a short torque arm so that I could get it away from the trans to make more space.
Regarding the tips I am not sure either so that is why I am leaving it this way for
awhile to see if these will grow on me. I think it is either these or will try to hind them
as much as possible

Re: 85 Iroc Build - Dual Exhaust
The problem with flat tips is getting them lined up. Due to them being square its very easy to see if they're off center or angled a little bit. Hard to build an exhaust system to the perfection that the human eye demands, and then over time they will settle and move a little anyway. Round tips can still be out of alignment and so forth, but its just not nearly as obvious. Plus with rectangle tips, you have to be even more careful than usual about getting both symmetric with the centerline of the car, and you may not have the flexibility under the car to make it happen. Normally the passenger side tip is closer to the center of the car than the driver's side due to the shape of the trunk well.

Re: 85 Iroc Build - Dual Exhaust
Thanks for the tip about tips
. I agree and I can already see the difficulty in getting them symetrical about the centerline of the car and the engineer in me gets very disturbed by this. Also with the length of the mufflers I am using and placing them the way I am I have to have a very short tip to fit under the bumper. It took me awhile to find dual round ones that would work. I dont think the rectangular ones would fit.
