Help with pipe setup for headers
I have an 86 camaro sport coupe. Looking to put on Hooker super comp headers but dont know what pipes to order. Whats a good setup? Duel exhaust looks badass. Could I straight pipe it or to risky? I want it obnoxiously loud and mean haha.
I can upload a few pics of the underside shortly..

Re: Help with pipe setup for headers
By Super Comp I'm assuming you mean long tubes. Your exhaust choices are normally limited by your transmission and torque arm setup. Manuals seem to have much more space vs the 700-r4. Then the Torque Arm Spohn is the worst from what I've seen personally. It's hard to get the Y pipes around their crossmember mount cleanly.
With shorties 2.5" dual or so is doable using the stock routing down the passenger side. Or most companies just offer a y pipe kit normally they are either dual or single depending on the year of the application.
With long tubes forget going to the stock routing. I don't really see a way to get the driverside over there. Normally people go with a Y pipe then go to a single 3" or 4" back over the axle. Some people just use turn downs or side exits too. For long tubes there are very few complete kits (Mufflex and etc have them). The ones that are complete are very expensive. I think I have $180 in my 4" catback, but I built it myself.

Im guessing you have the 305 am I correct?
If you are a first timer and wanting to do true duals it might be a little much for you on one of these cars
Here is my setup on an 87 350 700R4
And some sounds
I'm using short Powersticks from Classic Chambered Mufflers
Small and can place them anywhere you can fit them basically.
Also I had to fab my own Crossmember out of 1/4 steel to help ground clearance
Made all my own bends too, so this wasnt just a quick bolt on job.
