Exhaust System Set-up

Hey guys, Im new so take it easy on me lol.. I'm trying to find a good exhaust system from headers to pipes for my 83 Camaro project. I already have shorty headers so I'm trying to find a good complete set-up that will bolt up to it without me having to do any bending or anything.

I have a set of custom pipes that came with the project but they hang very low and turn out the sides instead of the back (Yuck!)

Re: Exhaust System Set-up

You won't find a packaged exhaust system that will bolt up to who-knows-what headers, unless you have the Y-pipe that comes with them, and it comes out in the stock location. If you've got unknown shorty headers and no Y-pipe, you'll be money and commonsense ahead, to throw them in the trash and start over.

Given that however, any system that fits one of these cars, will bolt right up, as if the manifolds and stock Y-pipe were still there.

I'd suggest this one. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-16823hkr/ Pretty straightforward if you use one of these cats http://www.summitracing.com/search/d...er-in/3-000-in the exact one of which will depend on what your headers' Y-pipe has for its outlet flange.

Re: Exhaust System Set-up

Ok so I I've decided to either get a new set of headers and a matching y-pipe and go from there or have a custom set of duals made... When I bought the headers I have I was short on cash so I went cheap. Probably best to upgrade anyway. What would anyone suggest?

If you plan on beefing up your engine you should probably go ahead and get a good exhaust system, probably 2.5" for a custom true dual system. Dyno Don's headers are, from what I've heard, the best headers to put on our cars, but they aren't cheap.
