Hawks 82-92 SBC Longtubes

I need some feedback on hawks long tube and off road y pipe setup. I want to go longtube on my L98 and want to pay for the right quality. Has anybody used this setup? And since these headers require a long wire o2 sensor or wide band some call it where would you go about getting one to plug up to our cars? Any gains in performance? And what muffler would you suggest. Im already running flowmaster catback 80s, and im tired of it. A lot of people are 50/50 when it comes to magnaflow, so any other suggestions would be appreciated. Im planning to run a full 3in to the muffler and out

I running just the headers and they are 2nd to none! the fit is outstanding, when I ordered I was told that with my T56, that I would have to trim the trans, and put a small dimple in the collector.
I would dare to guess that the Y-pipe would be just as good!

Take your o2 or wideband plug, cut the connecter end off and add more wire to it.

-put your electrician hat on

--those look to be a nice kit, I may even buy them and....well I will sell my coated 2055 kit eventually.

Re: Hawks 82-92 SBC Longtubes

Thank you for the replies. Any suggestions on mufflers? after the y pipe ends from 2 pipes into 1 i plan on running 3 inch all the way back. My plan is just make this a headers/exhaust/intake car which ive already done the edelbrock base and high flow runners and ported the runners.

Re: Hawks 82-92 SBC Longtubes

I have a set with the y-pipe, but haven't installed them yet. I can tell you its a high quality, well made set. The headers and y-pipe are very light for the size of pipe used. The kit comes with the header bolts, a set of exhaust clamps and high temp exhaust rtv to make an exhaust gasket. PM me and ill tell you how to get them cheaper.

Hey Steve, how've ya been. You remember this is similar to what I've been running? It came from the same Stainless Works company at least. You're welcome to see how it's held up over 3 years anytime. We've overdue for a meet

Hey brian long time no see man. Last time i spoke to jason he said you've been a busy man.

Yes i believe the setups are close, didn't you say at one point the borla muffler you had on was too quite? Still debating mufflers because the flowmaster i have on has got to go.

Quiet? No. It flows and makes almost to much noise. I did find those "tuning inserts" that I'm curious to try to better refine the exhaust note.
