side pipes?

What do you guys think of side pipes ( http://www.jegs.com/i/Patriot+Exhaus...H1050/10002/-1 )
on a 85 trans am? and is there a way to make it clear the ground effects do you think?
these are just musings and flights of fancy at the moment but would love some input.

I was thinking if the pipes were a few inches away from the ground effects there shouldn't be too much of a heat issue, and if the effects were shaped a bit, ground clearance shouldn't be that bad either...

Re: side pipes?

I can think of few things that would look and otherwise BE worse. No exhaust at all would be about the only one that comes to mind, although cherry bombs stuck on the end of headers and exiting under the cabin would come close. These cars that I've seen that had those on them, looked about like taking the front fenders off of a Model T and sticking em on there; in short, like a totally mis-matched wart from another era. How about, like a smartphone with a CRT. Ugly and .... ugly. Not to mention, impractical.
