Exhaust placement issue ?
Hey all, It has been a while since I've posted anything. But I seem to be having an issue with 2 local shops here in Michigan. I requested the first shop to fix the enormous hole in my exhaust between the oil pan and the crossmember, and while in there to run new pipe from the header back to the muffler.
He said ok. But only did the little piece where the hole was, used 4 pieces of 3" metal, welded them together and gave it back to me after a nice $200. 3 days later, I hit a pot hole in a driveway I go down 20 times a month, car bottomed out a little (not all the way down). Turns out, he ran the new pip under my oil pan making the exhaust the lowest point of my car. Lost all my oil, engine seized etc.
Long story short, took it to another mechanic after the first guy told me to go F myself, and he does the same exact thing 3" further back. His reasoning is "That's where it goes. There is even a little nitch in the oil pan for it. If you don't like it, call GM and complain."
Sadly I have misplaced the pictures of the car's exhaust b4 I took it to the first guy so I have no proof, and finding pictures of the underbody of this car with a stock exhaust is proving difficult.
Does anyone have any pictures of this? Or am I in the wrong here? I'm not a certified tech, but I do all of my own work except trans work and exhaust work (I can't weld to save my life). i'll post some pictures of the current placement as soon as the hoist become available.
Thanks

Re: Exhaust placement issue ?
I dnt have a pic, but the pipe routes from the driver manifold toward the front and goes between the crossmember and the oil pan sump. Mine is tucked up high enough that the oil pan sump is lower than the pipe.
