flowmaster cat
I have to replace my catalytic converter on my 90 firebird formula 305, thinking about flowmaster cat. I have a hypertech chip, K&N air filter and a highflow exhaust. I fixed the problem that burned it out. Does anyone know if it's a good choice?

Re: flowmaster cat
Im using a Magnaflow cat and am impressed at how strong it is. I was pushed over a low concrete divider by a car merging into my lane and drug the bottom of the car several feet. The cat had a gnarly scrape on the bottom of it but it has passed CA smog for the last several years.
Definitely a well made piece. My vote is Magnaflow.
The Flowmaster is made in the USA and is stainless steel. I don't have any experience with their cats but am running there American Thunder cat back for over 7 years now and have no complaints. Still if you can I would go Magnaflow.

Re: flowmaster cat
I installed the cat and cat back at the same time along with the open element. That combination gave it a nice powerful sound.( I'm a Flowmaster guy ). Maybe a little better throttle response off the line with the open element. I like to think that combo woke up the 5.0 but other than sounding fast I have no proof.
Gear ratio change and Eaton posi. really helped the car. Its not fast but I will call it quick in short bursts.

Re: flowmaster cat
that's great thanks. I've looked in to it and it's only $30 more. Need all the power I can get out of the little 5.0. Bought the new just can't get rid of it, just a fun car to drive. Thanks again for the input.
