Advice for a slip-fit cat that won't slip on?

Got a new cat in the hopes I'll get better emissions readings, but I had to hammer the old one off with a rubber mallet and the new is the same size as the old one but won't slip on. Tried using a rubber mallet but it's just not wanting to go. Total pain in the butt. Any advice?

Bigger mallet?

If your local muffler shop has an old pipe expanders that may work to open up the inlet on the cat.

Rent one of these for free from a local parts store?
(Don't have to expand it as much as bring it back to round.)

Re: Advice for a slip-fit cat that won't slip on?

Thanks all for the ideas!

I took it to the local muffler shop and they did it for free. Got it on last night after fighting with it a bit. Turns out the new one is about half in longer than the old and it played havoc with my fitment! haha
