Just ordered a nice chrome pair of sidepipes for the bird. Anyone done this on a 3rd gen before? If so, any photos? I think it'll give it a sharp look.

 

Some have done it, most regret it though. Bad clearance issues and burning off of paint.

search "side pipes" and all the threads should pop up.

Interested to see some pics when you put them on.

 

Ok thanks for your input, exhaust looks like hell right now. It is currently running with just glass paks that sag way too low. I figure with the heat shield, it should be fine, especially since it doesnt have cats and wont be too restricted to build up unnecessary heat.

I'm running side pipes on mine.
True duals, side pipes into stacks with one glass pack per side. Sounds like a Harley below 1300 rpm. No real clearance issues here, but I'm also Rollin on 31" mud tires

Trying to hang those as just side pipes would be just..a bundle of fun..

No cats, shorty headers, and yes, they get HOT. My fiance has gotten second degree burns from her legs hitting the pipes getting out. I wear boots, but others have had that issue. So if you go this route, get in the habit of opening your door wide and swinging your legs out, and warn your passengers, or get heat shields.

Due to how I welded the reducer, also known as "I eye balled it", I'll occasionally bottom out on a big bump or going from pavement to dirt road over 40mph or going through a muddy/rocky field, but hey, bending the pipes just gives ya more clearance haha!
