I have a bone stock 87' IROC L98. The craptastic exhaust on it sounds horrible, looks horrible, and is just about to fall off the car (stupid potholes.) Previous owner installed headers but they are rusty and I just want some new stuff. Have read a bunch of threads but don't feel like wasting my time resurrecting a bunch of decade old threads.

I have read that hooker 2055s are basically a go to. On a stock L98 are they worth $721? Summit has them with Y and ceramic coated at that price.

I would like to run a Magnaflow muffler, no cat, stock routing but exiting before rear axle.

Unfortunately my DD was stolen and I am trying to put the ole' girl back on the road but want to make sure I am spending my money wisely.

 

i'd just go for the "ebay" longtubes and as for the cat or not i suggest one just because (you never know with smog *****) catco magnaflow random tech whoever. 3" catback would be good. you wont get any benefit by dumping infront of the rear axle. it will just be loud. but not a good loud like exhaust leak loud.
