should I remove air tubes found leak

I live in a state where they dont do emissions, I dont have a cat already and i just found a leak where the air tube that connects to the 2nd spark plug on the header, the nut that screws into the header is all rotted out and leaks air which makes a really annoy humming sound, does it do any harm to remove the air tube and plug the holes

if so how would I go about doing this, it is a all stock 88 gta 305, would I gain anything from this

Save money and replace with quality headers and a Y pipe. Check the stickies about headers for selections.

I forget the actual size, but you can get the plugs from a hardware store. but make sure you buy straight ones. as the tapered ones tend to not stay tight. and you can just cut the air injection tubes off at the manifolds and use a 6 point socket to remove them. be sure to use BP blaster though.

Re: should I remove air tubes found leak

You may be forced to dive in deeper than you want. I tried the plugging of the stock manifolds. Got to the last nut (rear pax side) and the nut broke off in the manifold.

Tried to thread it out but the tap broke in there.

So now I've got hookers on...

Good luck, go slow and I second the PB!
