V8 Exhaust Hanger
V8 Exhaust Hanger
Hey all,
First post on ThirdGen! I'm restoring a 91 Camaro that was converted from a 3.1 L to a 5.7 L by the previous owner. I'll create a thread documenting the entire restoration process, but right now I have a quick question. He left the original exhaust in, so I'm replacing the stock with a larger system, more suitable for the V8. The old system had the V6 hanger, and I've never seen the V8 style before.
I ordered an aftermarket Walker V8 exhaust hanger (pic attached), and I'm a little confused as to how to install the new I-Pipe. The hanger has a fairly thin rubber membrane inside the hole. Do I punch the I-Pipe bracket through it?
Thanks in advance!

I never noticed the error in that diagram until now...
It would sure look funny and flow like crap if the tailpipes were installed as illustrated
