i just got a set of the shorties without the y pipe and was wondering if the stock y pipe would work for now

 

Certainly not directly. Some type of modification/adaptation will have to be performed. The flow won't be very good (although slightly better than the stock manifolds) because the stock pipe is a restriction.

Unless you have access to exhaust bending & welding equipment, you'd be better off waiting until you can get a proper y-pipe fabricated to work with the headers.

 

will i have to get a custom y pipe made? or does someplace sell one thatll work?

 

You have to to get a y-pipe made.I paid $120 to have one made.
