How does this sound?
Ok, I don't know if anybody's asked this yet:
Spintech Cruiser series mufflers(2 1/4"9"*16")
Oval tubing (equivalent to 3 inches round)
I don't know what headers though. I think this would be a good idea for dual exhaust with no X or H pipes or cats. The oval tubing and size of the mufflers should give good ground clearance IMO.

The cruiser series does not use oval tubing; it uses round--that is it's whole selling point. The oval sportsman streets use oval tubing. DO NOT USE THE CRUISERS. I asked Spintech about them because I was going to use them in my true dual setup. Spintech said that they wouldn't flow enough for my 305, and that they are really just for hotrods that have little ground clearance. They said that the mufflers are for sound, but would do not support much performance--I guess if they wouldn't be adequate for my stock LB9!
They recommended the Pro Street muffler.
The "thin" mufflers below are ones that I have found that are less than 4" thick, as 4" and more are common.
If you want something thin and you don't mind buying oval tubing, you can go with the oval sportsmans mentioned above, or flowmaster makes a racing muffler that uses oval tubing (they say that NASCAR cars use it) and is 2-1/2" or 3" thick.
If you want a thin muffler that uses round tubing, flowmaster just came out with race mufflers that are 3" thick and available in 1, 2, or 3 chamber design. They are in the new summit race parts catalog, p3.
