Headers with or without air tubes

I am installing a 96 lt1/t56 combo in a 83 l69 z28. I have two sets of headers. One with and one without the air tubes. Which route should I go. What is the purpose of this.

Re: Headers with or without air tubes

The air tubes are part of emission control system. Do you live in a state with emission testing? If not get rid of them. The air tubes just add fresh air into the exhaust to dilute it prior to exiting the car's tail pipe.
