There is an X pipe for them too. I've been thinking about grabing a set to see how they do

These things look awesome but if I’m seeing these both correct there’s an $800 difference if you want that 24k gold X pipe?

Re: American Racing Headers
Geez, dyno don’s header look like an absolute steal compared to those! And the $800 price tag for the x-pipe and extension is not only vastly overpriced but it merges into a single pipe just a few inches later making it completely pointless! It’s a good, comparable replacement system for don’s headers since he’s retiring though but I’m sure glad I got mine before he did retire!

Re: American Racing Headers
Yes it's expensive but don't forget, it's a full stainless setup, 1 7/8 header, 2 3/4 Ypipe with all the parts to connect to a factory style catback. IIRC, they can also customize it a bit to your specs. Soooo that's handy.
Keeps things fairly easy, don't have to mess with long tube Y pipes that don't fit or flow well without a custom or bolt on crossmember/tq arm mount.
The stainless SLP setup with 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 header and 2inch Y pipe was pretty expensive back in the late 80s to 90s as well.
Time and pricing marches on every year....

Re: American Racing Headers
The $1050 is... well not so much reasonable but expected considering who’s producing it. The benefits of stainless over ceramic coated heavy gauge mild steel isn’t worth the 25% increase in cost in my eyes though. But I was going on about the $1900 price tag with the addition of the pointless x-pipe that then merged into a single shortly after. Nothing reasonable about that. And really even the 1 7/8” primary option on a shorty with a 2 3/4” collector and y-pipe is hard to make sense of (I didn’t see whether the 1 7/8” option boosts the price over the 1 3/4” primary). Everything after the primaries is the same as the 1 3/4” header and we know several of the rear tubes are only inches long. One improvement I noticed over DD’s headers is the location of the O2S bung. On the DD headers it’s on the rear of the collector with a downward angle which will ruin a sensor in short order due to moisture collection. These have it on the front where I relocated mine on my DD headers and have yet to have a problem since. Nice attention to detail. Now I’d like to see if there’s a noticeable difference in power btw the 2 sets. Only real difference is 1/4” inch in y-pipe diameter.

Re: American Racing Headers
I looked at these everyday while I installed Hooker long tubes and a mufflex y-pipe. I was trying to keep on a budget, but man; when the y-pipe gets holes ground in it from scraping I will be buying these.
Re: American Racing Headers
I'm looking at this setup for my buddies Formula I am building the engine for. I want a large primary tube header and of course a y pipe to run the exhaust and the options are pretty limited. The whole setup through Hawks is insane really... with shipping and the dollar conversion we are probably better off buying mandrel bends and having someone local tig something up. Still need a set of headers though.
