those with hooker 2055 ceramic coated headers.......

Just curious what luck others have had that have ordered the ceramic coated version of the hooker 2055's as far as the quality of the coating goes? I have had to return 2 sets now due to defects. Now some defects may have happened during shipping, but the 2nd set I asked the vendor to have the manufacturer package them better as they seem to move around too much in the box. One had a nickel sized dent, another had bubbling in the coating over a 2 to 3" patch as well as a 4" scratch (on the top side), and the last set has a two inch scratch (on the top side) and, like the other 2 sets, several small nicks and scratch-like lines in the coating is several places. Maybe it's just me being picky because I work in the automotive industry, but when we chrome plate parts it is sometimes shocking the defects that ours get scrapped for. I think to myself, I would put that on my car. These you can easily see from a distance away. I just don't feel happy with the quality given such a high cost for them.

Just curious if others have noticed the same and buying raw and getting them coated separately is maybe a better option?

When I ordered mine back in 2016, there was a inch long dent in one of the tubes. While I do like perfect items for the price, it wasn't worth the hassle to to me to ship back. Besides, the dent is where no one looking in the engine bay will even see it.

The only disappointment I've got with them is what looks like surface rust that has formed on some of the surfaces. They've only been on the car 1.5 years and driven less than 1,000 miles. Can post a picture later.

I've got a coated set of 2460's on the shelf. Got a really sweet deal on them. I would say the coating is "OK" no real issues there. The larger issue is that the quality of the base helder, welds, and finish work inside the collector, the match up of the primaries to the gaskets, is all just a bit sloppy. I chalk it up to being an aftermarket part for general audiences. If I'd paid full price, I probably would have been disappointed, but then I didn't pay anywhere close to full price.

I had the 2055's on my car for 10 years and they worked very well. The coating dulled over time and there were just a few rust spots but overall they held up very well.

That's good to hear. In the end, although there were quality concerns with the sets I received, their customer service has been excellent and they seem to want to make sure their customers are happy...…..they ended up offering me a partial rebate. I thought that was very fair. They still look quite good from several feet away, so I can't wait to get them on (spring now).
